Rose Flores Medlock, MLIS
eLearning Designer
Portland, OR, USA
Currently, I work as an elearning designer for a SaaS company headquartered in the Bay Area of California. Previously, I spent a little more than two years contracting for a collection of tech and education companies based on both Coasts of the United States. At one former employer, I was a member of the training team, designing internal and external training materials from scoping to writing and illustrating in Storyline 360, Camtasia, and two LMSs. At another, I designed tutorials using HTML, HTML5, and CSS and build directly in an LMS. In all settings, I work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders, often according to tight deadlines.
I’ve been an instructional designer since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s of Science degree in Library and Information Science. At the time, instructional design was not a common discipline and Pitt offered a highly flexible program, allowing me the opportunity to combine an education in learning design with research and information systems.
I pursued a graduate degree after working as an editor in media and publishing for nearly a decade. During that time, I managed newsrooms of staff writers and freelancers and helped to move print publications into the digital environment. Thanks to holding leadership roles in which I chose where to focus my growth, I set a foundation for myself in learning how to interview people, conduct needs analyses, write engaging and informative content for diverse audiences, and more.
Regardless of why you’re here—maybe I applied for a job at your company or perhaps you were referred to me—I look forward to speaking with you soon.
